Townshend Landscape Architects is part of the team that have won an international competition to design a landmark development for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council. The scheme is adjacent to Al Qurum beach and the buildings will act as a gateway to the city. The award winning design was unveiled at the 2008 MIPIM conference in France. The landscaped external spaces will include a palm reserve, water features and pedestrian routes, while sky gardens will be situated on the upper levels of the building. The design concept will be influenced by traditional Islamic patterns and the scheme aims to target accreditation of the LEED Gold Standard while providing an outstanding accommodation for over 2,000 employees. An area of 11,500 sqm will be transformed with a design that is consistent with the Emirates '2030 Development Plan'.
