TOWER PLACE

Tower Place is situated immediately to the west of the Tower of London, on a site which is steeped in history dating back to the Roman occupation. The design seeks to unify the new building with the existing historic structures creating a distinctive, crisp, modern green space which is recognizable in its own right, but which will be part of the wider eclectic City environment. In addition the overall master plan, designed in collaboration with Foster and Partners, aimed to reinstate historical views while creating a new public plaza incorporating trees, benches and water features in front of All Hallows Church.

The principal open space is covered by a 27m high glass canopy designed by Foster and Partners. Beneath this 15m tall trees have been planted, seeking to reinforce the smooth transition between internal and external spaces. The composition of trees, sculptural stone benches and water features give the space a unique quality, adding to the rich grain of the urban environment within the Square Mile.
