RIVERSIDE STRATEGY
The new riverside public realm strategy will form an important connection between the City of London and the River Thames. Its situation on the north of the River is the first step in ascertaining the City of London's vision to provide a continuous public route along the northern bank of the Thames from Lower Thames Street to Victoria Embankment.
The proposed buildings, Watermark Place designed by Fletcher Priest Architects and Riverbank House designed by David Walker Architects sit adjacent to the newly created and enhanced public open spaces. The design of these spaces plays upon the geometry of these buildings, harmonizing their form and facade and further enhancing the link to the river providing an astounding opportunity to enjoy the riverside views. Multi-stemmed Amelankier lamarckii and Cornus lousa chinesis form a delicate canopy over areas of seating and planting.
Watermark Place also comprises 2 roof terraces forming an inspiring new private garden with views towards Tower Bridge and St Pauls Cathedral. Polished granite water features with delicate grasses and herbaceous planting structure the space.
