LONDON BRIDGE QUARTER

The London Bridge Quarter development includes the construction of The Shard of Glass, London Bridge House and the regeneration of both London Bridge Railway and Bus Stations. The development will be unified by the public realm which wraps around each of the individual elements. The site comprises of approximately 1.5 hectares of public realm and aims to improve the immediate surroundings by promoting an urban environment where quality of life and environment are integral to the development. At the heart of the proposals a major new public space on the Station concourse level accommodates kiosks, market stalls and the opportunity to hold temporary public events. Space will also be dedicated to art installations that will add visual and cultural interest to the site. Semi-mature tree planting is integrated with seating providing a meeting place outside the station. At the lower level, along St Thomas Street, the forecourt for a 7 star hotel located within 'The Shard' sets a high standard for the paving materials which will influence the highway along the length of the street.
