TOWNSHEND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

ST AUBIN

St Aubin is located in the Southwest of France, between Bordeaux and Toulouse and has been influenced by impacts of medieval land use patterns and viticulture. The proposed residential development on approx. 38ha of land reflects the village culture of the surrounding area. The landscape master plan aims at ensuring a minimal impact on the environment. It is the intention of the master plan to provide a framework of new tree and hedge planting designed to follow the contours of the site, enhance the ecological diversity of the landscape, and to provide an appropriate setting for the proposed buildings. While doing so, the four main zones are designed to provide an individual area each with its own character based on the qualities of the existing landscape. The planting palette not only attempts to be contiguous with the existing pastoral landscape but also promotes biodiversity; providing new wildlife habitats, as well as privacy between the individual plots.
