TOWNSHEND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS
The Metropole Building is designed around a central courtyard and situated in the centre of Warsaw. The courtyard, bordered by a series of retail units, is an active space around a central set of continually changing fountains that become a small ice rink during the long winter months. The fountains are ringed by a circle of Red Oak trees that provide shade in the summer and are silhouetted by light during the winter. Townshend Landscape Architects advised the Architects Foster and Partners on the landscape works on this project.
