The Practice was part of the winning team in an international competition to design a landmark development for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council headquarters. The site is adjacent to Al Qurum beach and the buildings act as a gateway to the city. The winning competition design was unveiled at the 2008 MIPIM conference in France. The design incorporates landscaped external spaces including a palm reserve, water features and pedestrian routes, while sky gardens are situated on the upper levels of the building. The whole design concept is influenced by traditional Islamic patterns, which follows through to other details in the project. Overall the scheme aimed to target accreditation of the LEED Gold Standard, while providing outstanding accommodation for over 2,000 employees. An area of 11,500 sq m has been transformed with a design that is consistent with the Emirates '2030 Development Plan'.
